Clyde Min, BBA ’71

In his leadership role as president of the board, Clyde Min represents the collective interests of graduates in promoting the School of Travel Industry Management (TIM School) to UH and TIM students, faculty and staff. He works on local, state and international levels and leads the executive officers in setting the strategic plan and annual budget for the TIM International, Inc. (TIMI).

"It is the duty of the TIMI board to preserve and protect the legacy and culture of the TIM School by passing on knowledge and experiences to each succeeding class of TIM students," he says.

One of Min's favorite memories of being a student in the TIM School was that in the summer of 1969, he was part of the first summer class in Europe. Celebrating mankind's first moon landing abroad was a life-changing experience for the "Waimanlo kid" and the trip to London was the first time he traveled off the island.

Lee-Ann Choy, BBA ’88
Manager, Pacific Rim Concepts
Vice President

In her leadership role as vice president of the board, Lee-Ann Choy serves as a catalyst and connector between the TIM School students, faculty, alumni and the visitor industry. She looks for opportunities to cross-promote, utilize talents, connect generations and foster relationships.

She also lectures at the TIM School, teaching Event Management & Marketing. Her class has been responsible for designing and coordinating the Na Kukui Netlinks networking event. Having been a member of the TIMI board for more than 20 years, Choy coordinated the first Celebrate a Legacy in Tourism gala, which honored Dean Gee upon his retirement, and the building of the Gee Technology Center.

Choy says she feels blessed to have attended the TIM School at a time when Hawai‘i was growing to the destination it is today.

"My most memorable experiences include the diverse student population, inspirational faculty, abundant job opportunities, traveling to the National Restaurant Association Show and the bonds created at TIM Night galas," she said.

*Alan Okimoto, BBA ’80
Energy Analyst, DBEDT Hawaii State Energy Office

Alan Okimoto holds the position of secretary for the TIMI board. In his role, he conducts official correspondence, keeps records, issues meeting notices to members and performs other duties as assigned by the board of directors or the president.

"It is an honor to serve on the TIMI board," he said. "It gives me the opportunity to give back to the TIM School while also helping provide much needed resources and guidance to current students."

During his own time as a student at the TIM School, Okimoto says that he was able to form life-long friendships with his fellow classmates.

Lois Sismar, BBA ’72

In her role as treasurer, Lois Sismar works to keep financial statements and maintain licenses and permits with various government agencies. She participates in all the TIMI meetings and provides regular updates and reports on the financial matters of the TIMI.

"It is a privilege to be on the board so that I can be connected with the school and the travel industry," she said.

Sismar's fondest memories as a student in the TIM School include the "Roaring Twenties" TIM Night and attending the National Restaurant Show in Chicago, which was chaperoned by Dean Chuck Gee.
