Why did you choose to attend the School of Travel Industry Management?
I chose TIM because I’ve always enjoyed hospitality and the aspects of tourism. The TIM school is unique in the sense that students are encouraged and empowered. Being a student at the TIM School does not feel like a competitive industry. Instead, students help each other and motivate each other.
What do you enjoy most about the school and why?
I enjoy learning about the tourism industry and getting exposure from events.
What are three words (or more) you would use to describe the TIM School?
Fun, enlightening, thriving
What TIM activities/student organizations are you involved in?
I am in Eta Sigma Delta (ESD). I decided to join because it was a great opportunity to be involved in TIM, the community and motivate myself to strive for the best.
What has your favorite class or professor been so far and can you explain why?
My favorite class so far has been TIM 306 with Professor Shulga. It has made me very interested in HR management and Professor Shulga is always so motivational and enthusiastic about the subject.
What internships have you completed so far?
I completed my 1st internship as a Guest Service Agent at Alohilani Resort. My internship was a great foot-in-the-door opportunity. I enjoyed learning everything to do with working front desk. Although it does get tedious and frustrating at times, it’s rewarding.
What advice can you give to students who are considering attending the School of Travel Industry Management?
If you are considering joining the TIM school but are not sure whether it’s really for you, do it anyway. Everyone is different, and if you do end up deciding that TIM is not for you, it’s okay. No one knows where our paths will lead so don’t let any setbacks deter you from success. Don’t forget the main thing is to focus on your goals, work hard, and most definitely take care of your mental health and body.
