Lee-Ann Choy is the owner and president of Pacific Rim Concepts, LLC, a professional conference and event organizer company established in Honolulu in 2000. Her company caters to local professional associations and government organizations.
Prior to establishing her company, Choy was part of the opening team of the newly unveiled Hawaiʻi Convention Center in 1998. She serviced off-shore clients and groups of 300 or more and helped planners to navigate the meetings and conventions at the new facility.
Choy, a 1988 alumni of the University of Hawai‘i School of Travel Industry Management (TIM) has served as its professor of events management and marketing since 2006. In conjunction with TIM School functions, Choy was involved with each of the past 17 “Celebrate a Legacy in Tourism” gala fundraiser events where, each year, an honoree is recognized for individual achievement in the tourism industry, a TIM school alumni is inducted into the TIM School Alumni Hall of Fame, and an organization is recognized for its contribution to the visitor industry.
Choy has been also instrumental in the past successes of TIM Night where TIM students were given the opportunity to learn invaluable experience about marketing and managing special events alongside travel industry professions from the local business community. She is also instrumental in Nā Kukui Netlinks, a special event designed for UH TIM students to organize and manage this annual mentee/mentorship networking event that culminates with a student awards ceremony.
Choy received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on hospitality and restaurants and from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is involved in community giving and serves as a board member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Travel Industry Management Alumni Association, a member of the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association, Hawaii Society of Business Professionals and Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and ministers at New Hope Windward.
Choy has a daughter in graduate school and resides on Windward Oahu.
